Train antenna requirements: 5G X-Plecs 4x4 MIMO cross-polarized / dual-polarized
DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung was looking for a cross-polarized 5G MIMO train antenna for its Colibri IT solution portfolio to promote digitization in rail and road traffic.
The antenna had to meet the following criterieas:
- In order to optimize the possible throughput, dual-polarized roof antennas that can use signals with different polarizations should explicitly be offered
- The heights of 50 and 80 mm and the width of 120 mm should not be exceeded
- The antennas should be suitable for the curved roofs of double-deck coaches
- A robust, maintenance-free and MIMO-capable multiband antenna with high gain in a very compact design for:
- 5G
- LTE
- GSM
- WLAN
- GNSS
In order to optimize the possible throughput, dual-polarized roof antennas that can use signals with different polarization should expressly be offered.
Our solution:
With the OmPlecs®-TOP 200 AMR product family (height 60 and 40 mm), Antonics has had suitable cross-polarized multiband antennas in its portfolio for some time.
For the tender, however, the new, particularly narrow roof antenna X-Plecs®-TOP AMR (height 50 and 80 mm, width 120 mm) was offered in variants from 2x2 to 8x8 MIMO, which is also suitable for the curved roofs of double-decker coaches.
Antonics offered the OmPlecs®-TOP 200 AMR MF-05 with Wi-Fi 6E (3x3 to 6x6 MIMO) as an indoor antenna.
Antonics thus fulfilled all the "must" criteria formulated in the tender and also numerous "should" criteria.
